It is not affiliated with Google or the real VirusTotal service — it is an independent wrapper that relays whatever you send it to VirusTotal's public scanning API, which checks a file or link against 70+ antivirus engines at once, and relays the verdict back into the chat.

That "many engines at once" approach is genuinely useful: a single antivirus vendor's bot (like Dr.Web's) only tells you what its own engine thinks, while a VirusTotal-style aggregator shows you a consensus across dozens of vendors, which is more informative when a file sits in an ambiguous "some engines flag it, most don't" zone.

Being an unofficial wrapper by a single named individual rather than a company means less institutional accountability than Dr.Web's own bot — if it goes offline or changes hands, there's no corporate support line behind it. Use it the same way you would the public virustotal.com website: as a second opinion, not a substitute for keeping your antivirus and OS up to date, and be mindful that whatever you upload becomes part of VirusTotal's shared scanning corpus.
